Crew applying fresh white and yellow parking lot striping after sealcoating

Opening Project Summary

CasTech supported a coordinated maintenance program at six military facilities, treating nearly 100,000 square yards of pavement. The combined work—slurry and spray sealing, crack sealing, targeted asphalt repairs, and full restriping—restored surface protection, improved vehicular circulation, and refreshed ADA and fleet markings while meeting the access and approval requirements of multiple commands.

Project Overview

The project spanned multiple states and required material qualification, product demonstrations, and schedule coordination with prime contractors and base operations. CasTech provided product selection guidance, technical submittals, and on-site support to ensure the selected systems were appropriate for parking surfaces versus higher-speed roadways.

What the Job Included

Work combined surface-preservation treatments and localized repairs to extend pavement life and restore clear traffic markings. Teams applied slurry and spray seal systems to low-speed parking areas, routed and sealed cracks with hot- and cold-applied materials where needed, performed patching and isolated mill-and-overlay repairs, and completed full restriping including ADA and fleet layouts.

Challenges on Site

This multi-site program faced three practical constraints: stringent material approval processes at multiple commands, differing regional weather windows across states, and site-specific access/staging rules tied to base operations. Each factor required additional coordination to keep crews productive and materials acceptable to facility engineers.

CasTech’s Approach

CasTech prioritized technical clarity and sequencing. Technical submittals and product demonstrations addressed command-level approval questions about sealers, crack treatments, SureFlex membranes, sands, and traffic paints. Scheduling was phased to align with local weather windows and base access rules, and teams coordinated with the prime contractor to stage work during lower-traffic periods to minimize disruption.

Finished Result

The combined program delivered refreshed, higher-performing pavements across six facilities. Treated areas now have renewed surface protection and clearer traffic markings, including updated ADA layouts and fleet zones, which improved circulation and site legibility. Material approvals and technical support helped the prime contractor move forward after initial review delays, keeping the overall program on budget and on schedule once approvals were secured.
