Opening Project Summary

A coastal church in Destin needed focused parking lot maintenance to address aging asphalt, faded striping, ponding near entries, and unclear pedestrian access. CasTech completed a targeted repair and surface-refresh program that improved vehicle circulation, pedestrian safety, and the property’s curb appeal without disrupting regular site use.

Project Overview

The parking area showed common signs of wear: surface cracking and isolated potholes, worn pavement markings, and low spots that retained water after rain. The property required repairs and a coordinated approach to restoring clear traffic lanes, parking stalls, and ADA-compliant access to the main entry.

What the Job Included

Work focused on restoring a functional, safe lot while minimizing disruption to the congregation. The scope combined targeted asphalt repairs with surface preparation and a clear, durable restriping layout to improve navigation and visibility.

  • Localized asphalt patching and edge repairs to eliminate potholes and failed sections
  • Spot grinding and joint sealing where cracking threatened adjacent pavement
  • Re-profiling of low spots to reduce ponding and improve surface drainage
  • Fresh, high-contrast striping for parking stalls, aisle markings, crosswalks, and ADA spaces
  • Replacement of faded stop legends and curb markings for clearer traffic control

Challenges on Site

The site presented a few practical constraints: the parking lot remained active for services, some repair areas were adjacent to landscaping and curbs, and coastal weather patterns required work windows that avoided heavy rain. Additionally, addressing drainage issues required selective re-profiling without large-scale demolition.

C asTech’s Approach

CasTech used a phased, targeted approach to keep the lot usable and limit closures. Crews prioritized safety and traffic management, isolating repair zones with temporary signage and cones during work hours. Technicians performed cut-out patching for damaged areas, hand-leveling where necessary, and used compaction methods appropriate for local climate conditions. Once repairs cured, the crew applied a crisp, highly visible restriping layout keyed to the site’s circulation needs and ADA requirements.

Finished Result

The completed work restored the lot to a safer, more organized condition. Repairs eliminated tripping and tire-damage hazards, resurfacing reduced water collection in key zones, and new striping created clearer traffic aisles, defined parking stalls, and more visible crosswalks. The refreshed pavement markings improved driver wayfinding and pedestrian safety while enhancing the property’s overall curb appeal.
